CEO
I started at UCCC when there were just three centres. From delivering lunches, tying skates, and driving the company bus, to running payroll and designing summer camp programs, I loved being involved in every part of the organization. Throughout my working life, my focus has always been people and wellness. There is nothing more rewarding than a smile on a child’s face.
As CEO, my top priority is the well-being of our employees and the children and families we serve. I believe that if you have happy educators you will have happy children, and if you have happy children you will have happy families. It is that simple.

Through my varied leadership roles at Upper Canada Child Care, I realized that Human Resources was my real passion. I support the organization through a combination of industry-specific knowledge and my understanding of strategic Human Resources Management. At a recent conference, it was mentioned that ‘everyone deserves a great place to work’ and every day, I am motivated to ensure that UCCC is such a place and I am honoured to be in this role.

Early in my career as an ECE, many of my friends and I were starting our own families. As a new parent I realized the importance of accessible, high quality programs; to participate in the workforce, we needed reliable childcare we could trust. Throughout my career, providing childcare which supports optimal learning and development, and ensuring families feel confident their children are in a safe, nurturing environment has always been my primary motivation.

I always wanted to work with young children and have a positive effect on their lives. After graduating with my ECE diploma, I gained experience in several childcare organizations which influenced my practice. I am focused on quality programs with more outdoor programming. I feel fortunate to bring these areas of focus to my current role as I coach and mentor others at UCCC.

I took a child development course with a field placement at a local day care. This opportunity inspired me; I loved working with children and families and realized how childcare makes a real difference in their lives. I then obtained my ECE. Although I am not in daily contact with the children and parents, I am motivated to encourage and guide the teams that are; together we make a difference every day.

I always consider how I would want my children to be treated in childcare; I would want them to have the best care possible, to be treated with respect, to have opportunities to learn and grow. It is with that in mind that I do my best to support and mentor our educators in an atmosphere that prioritizes mental health and well-being.

My studies began in the field of Anthropology and led to my Bachelors of Education, then I taught English overseas. I returned home and accepted a position teaching kindergarten and I fell in love with it. I continue to nurture a love of early childhood education by supporting ongoing professional development opportunities for educators.
