Camp FAQs
When can I enroll my child?
Camp enrollment opens in February for children attending our Before and After School programs and returning campers. Two weeks later we begin accepting requests from new clients. Spaces are confirmed in March and enrollment is available as long as capacity and administrative timelines allow. See camp locations at the bottom of this page to find a location near you.
Do I need to pack a lunch for my child?
Yes. Please send a peanut‑free lunch, as our camps are allergy‑aware and peanut‑safe. This is why we limit food from restaurants and home‑prepared items that may contain allergens – thank you for helping us keep all campers safe.
We provide a morning and afternoon snack each day, and once a week campers enjoy a pizza lunch. These snacks and the weekly pizza lunch are included in camp fees. Please also pack a refillable water bottle to help your child stay hydrated on hot summer days.
What does a day at UCCC camp look like?
A day at UCCC Camp is designed to be fun, active, and full of opportunities for children to explore, create, and connect with their peers.
Morning Welcome
We open bright and early to support working families and campers start their day with a friendly check‑in and a morning snack. Creative table activities/free play options (board games, building toys etc.) are available for children as we wait for more campers to arrive.
Program
Our camp programming starts at 9:00 AM. Throughout the morning and afternoon, campers rotate through a variety of age‑appropriate activities led by our trained staff. These may include:
- Outdoor play and sports
- STEM challenges and experiments
- Arts and crafts
- Drama, music, and creative movement
- Team-building games and cooperative play
Each day offers a mix of structured programming and opportunities for choice, allowing campers to explore their interests and try new things. Campers break mid-day to enjoy their lunch.
Outdoor Time & Exploration
We spend plenty of time outdoors. Campers enjoy playground activities, nature walks, water play, and field games depending on their interests or the plan for the day. Camp staff are always aware of the weather and take all necessary steps to ensure campers are sun and heat safe and well hydrated. Once a week campers get on a bus and have a fun day exploring a fun venue like Tree Top Trekking or a nearby conservation area for the day.
Afternoon Wrap‑Up
In the afternoon, campers enjoy their second snack and planned activities/games wrap up by 4:00 PM. Campers enjoy free play activities until it is time to go home.
Fee Policy FAQs
Why is the deposit non-refundable?
We understand that plans can change and we do our best to be responsive, but Upper Canada Child Care follows industry standards requiring a non-refundable deposit to secure placement. As a non-profit provider, this allows us to plan and pay for camp expenses such as booking trips, hiring staff and purchasing supplies ensuring a high quality camp for all children. For these reasons, we require a non-refundable deposit per child, at the time of registration. See centre for full details.
How do I pay?
Upper Canada Child Care uses an automatic billing and account management system; Parent App.
We also require that families pay summer camp fees in advance monthly.
Fee Schedule/Monthly Payments:
- July Fees: Due June 1 (less any applicable discount or deposit).
- August Fees: Due July 1 (less any applicable discount or deposit).
Is there a cancellation deadline?
Yes, withdrawal notice must be provided in writing by May 15, and we understand that May 15 may feel early, but it is important to ensuring accuracy in payment processing. Because the first payment for July camp takes place on June 1, we need time to finalize thousands of accounts and edit any invoices before billing begins, with so many campers, this takes time and we want to get it right. By setting the deadline before payments start, we keep things organized and fair for everyone! Note: Monthly fees will be charged as scheduled on accounts which have not provided sufficient or appropriate withdrawal notice.
Is there funding available?
Yes, there are different types of funding available, such as CWELCC funding for children up to six years of age and fee subsidy for older children. We recommend connecting with children’s services to inquire about all funding options, please remember to provide your funding approval letter at registration.
