About the program

UCCC Before and After School Programs

Our goal is to provide a fun, safe start and finish to every school day. We take time every day and, in all seasons, to explore and play outside. After a demanding school day, active and free play outdoors is important for health and well-being.

  • Our before and after school programs are located in Simcoe County, Toronto, and York Region schools.
  • Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 7 AM to school start and school end to 6 PM (some locations have extended hours).

Fees

  • Find our fee schedules on individual location pages.
  • Fee subsidy is available (based on qualifying criteria).

Menu

  • Nutritious snacks. See our Menu.
  • We restrict foods brought from home or restaurants in order to protect the children in our programs with life-threatening allergies. For PA days and summer camp, families must provide lunches that are peanut-free. Other allergens may also be prohibited.

Parent Resources

To see our Inclusion Principles, Family Handbook, and Program Statement, visit our Program Documents page.

Communication is important. The following tools are available to all our clients.

  • Storypark app
  • Meetings as needed
  • Annual Family Satisfaction Survey

PA Day Care

A PA Day program is offered at most sites or a convenient site nearby. The longer days allow for more extended, fully developed play experiences. A full day program is also available during Winter Break and March Break.

Pre-registration is required.

“Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is a necessity.”

Kay Redfield Jamison

Ages 3.8 years to
6 years

1 educator for every 13 children, maximum
group size of 26 kindergarten children

Kindergarten Program

At this age, children tend to be energetic and enjoy recognition. They may talk about having a ‘best friend’ and want to be like their peers.

Our educators prioritize each child’s well-being by supporting their need to express themselves, to receive individual attention, and to belong.

Children are invited to participate in our fun, play-based programs to further develop their growing self-help, self-regulation, and social skills. They enjoy daily outdoor play in all kinds of weather which is important for health and well-being.

Parents can expect a flexible group routine with two healthy snacks provided daily.

Children in grades 1 to 3 are eager to take on new challenges and experiences and are proud of their accomplishments. They have individual interests and abilities and often spend time practicing and improving their skills.

    Ages 6 to 12

1 educator for every 15 children, maximum
    group size of 30 school-agers

In our lively programs, our educators encourage children to set goals, make plans, celebrate achievements, and to approach challenges as opportunities to learn.

School-agers in grades 4 to 6 generally progress from playing alone and in small groups to having multiple friends and social groups. They may enjoy competition and have more interest in forming clubs.

Our educators model respectful and positive social interactions while acknowledging children’s growing need for independence and time with friends.

Parents can expect a flexible group routine, two healthy snacks, and daily outdoor play in all kinds of weather.
